The Black Hills National Forest calls them forest service roads, but some riders call them 82′ non-width restricted trails. Many of these forest service roads are trail-like!
These are the trails the wider machines can legally use. Some of these trails are open year-round. These are the trails that often take you into the mystery and history of the Black Hills.
There are over 3,000 miles of these forest service road, 82″ non-width restricted trail-like trails. These trails are numbered on the MVUM, with three digit numbers like 201 or 201 2A.
If you like seeing water when you ride, watch for the Redbank Springs Reservoir and the Rudenvrale Spring. Beaver creek is a special destination and Yak Lake is one of those small mountain lake that just makes a visit more enjoyable.

The Redbank Springs campground is probably the Black Hills National Forest’s most remote national forest campground.
If you are riding trails 3531/3534 you will actually be visiting Wyoming, because the trails dip into Wyoming for a short period of time. No need to worry about a Wyoming permit here though.
Trail 3530 skirts the Wyoming border as you ride it’s far western reach.
The 62″ trail in this area are protected with width restriction gates. But the wider machine have plenty of trails in the area that do not have width restrictions.

A good place to park is at the Antelope Springs Trailhead. Access the trailhead by driving Forest Service Road 301 ( Six Mile Road).
