Probably one of the most remote set of trails in the Black Hills are my Favorite Ride, Antelope Springs trails. As you ride the trails you will skirt the SD/Wyoming border.
You might visit the Beaver Creek campground, where most of the vehicles staying there will have Wyoming plates.
If you like seeing water when you ride, watch for the Redbank Springs Reservoir and the Rudenvrale Spring. Beaver creek is a special destination and Yak Lake is one of those small mountain lake that just makes a visit more enjoyable.
In 2016 the local Off-Road Riders Association, and others, built the South Fork Castle Creek Bridge that crosses Trail 6030 over South Fork Castle Creek. If you ride here, you are about to experience a nice set of 62″ trails with some challenge.
To explore the Black Hills National Forest or ride the Mickelson Trail, Deadwood Outdoor Rentals is your perfect destination.
The Redbank Springs campground is probably the Black Hills National Forest’s most remote national forest campground.
If you are riding trails 3531/3534 you will actually be visiting Wyoming, because the trails dip into Wyoming for a short period of time. No need to worry about a Wyoming permit here though.
Trail 3530 skirts the Wyoming border as you ride it’s far western reach.
Ride the trail 3550 from the Ditch Creek area to the Antelope Springs area. This is an old high voltage wire maintenance trail.
The 62″ trail in this area are protected with width restriction gates. But the wider machine have plenty of trails in the area that do not have width restrictions.
Connecting rides include Black Fox Ride, Crooks Tower Ride, Ditch Creek Ride, Four Corners Ride, and the Summit Ridge Ride. (See details below)
A good place to park is at the Antelope Springs Trailhead. Access the trailhead by driving Forest Service Road 301 ( Six Mile Road).
