The Black Hills National Forest calls them forest service roads, but some riders call them 82′ non-width restricted trails. Many of these forest service roads are trail-like!
These are the trails the wider machines can legally use. Some of these trails are open year-round. These are the trails that often take you into the mystery and history of the Black Hills.
There are over 3,000 miles of these forest service road, 82″ non-width restricted trail-like trails. These trails are numbered on the MVUM, with three digit numbers like 201 or 201 2A.

Trail 6006 because of the elevation changes provides a good amount of challenge. Trail 6019 is a 62″ trail that skirts the rim of the canyon.
The Ditch Creek trails combined with other attached trail systems in an expansive set of ATV/UTV trails. Here is history, scenery, and diverse trails. These trails are situated close to a major Black Hills Lake and stream with three national forest campgrounds.
The Dearfield lake and Ditch and South Fork Castle Creek are beautiful and the valley has incredible scenery.
Copper Mountain, Green Mountain, Hat Mountain, and Odakota Mountain are some of the defined peaks in this area.
The Silica Sand Mines are a favorite destination for many riders.
This area is one more of the Custer Camps from 1874 on July 28.
The South Fork Castle Creek bridge was a 2016 project by the Off-Road Riders Association, their volunteers, and the Recreational Trails Program.
Connecting rides include; Antelope Springs Ride, Bear Mountain Ride, Four Corners Ride, Summit Ridge Ride and Tigerville Ride.
Plenty of parking is available at the Ditch Creek Trailhead.
