There are no trails in the Black Hills like the trail-like forest service roads of the My Favorite Ride, Elk Mountain Ride. It is framed by the results of a 2001, 21,000 acre forest fire that took most of the trees. But the trails are still there. And still there, is the wide open scenery!
You will probably ride in low some of the day, because the trails are just that technical. And, its 5662 feet to the base of the Elk Mountain Fire Tower.

The Dewey Ghost Town is found in this location.
To legally access Forest Service Road 120 and/or 818, you must obtain land-owner permission.
There are no width restrictive trails on the Elk Mountain Ride.
Connecting rides include the Jasper Ride and the Richardson Ride.
Parking is available along Forest Service Road 123 and 123 1A. You could also park of Hwy 16 on 769 or at the Richardson trailhead.
